There's a lot in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise DLC to yell in excitement about. Whether it's the long-awaited arrival of Brewster or the addition of moss, there’s a few things you may not have caught yet while returning to your island.

1. DIY Recipes Can Now Be Stored

Long gone are the days of DIY recipe cluttered beaches and basements. DIY recipes can now be stored in your home’s storage. Now Isabelle can stop telling me that my island is a mess.

2. More Storage Space

"But wait," I hear you say, "I don't have any storage space at home!" Well, now our pal Tom Nook has more storage upgrade options for houses. Your storage can be upgraded up to three times, making space for a total of 5,000 options. Talk about roomy.

3. Moving Houses and Buildings is Now Cheaper

Once again, Tom Nook has decided to be merciful on us mere villagers. If you want to move a building such as the museum or an island resident's home, it's now much cheaper to do so. It costs 10,000 bells instead of 50,000 bells, so it’s much easier on your pocket, literally.

4. Isabelle Tells You Who's Visiting Your Island

You won't have to hear Isabelle telling you what she watched on TV last night as often anymore during the daily announcements. Instead, if someone like Saharah or Kicks has set up shop for the day, or if CJ or Flick are on the island, she'll tell you. She even tells you what to do if you find someone unconscious, letting you that either Gulliver or Gullivaar are washed up on your beach. No more mashing the A button at the beginning of the game.

5. More Inclines

Instead of just eight inclines, you can now have a total of 10 inclines on your island. While just two more inclines may seem insignificant, a lot of players, me included, are thrilled at this addition.

6. Learn a New Hairstyle Every Day

After Harv tells you about his plan to set up new businesses on his island, he'll introduce you to Harriet, a poodle hairdresser. When you visit Harv’s island the next day, she’ll have a stool set up to give your hair a do-over. If you agree to let her style your hair, you’ll unlock a new hair style which you can also access in a mirror. Just like in real life, you also have to face the dread of telling her whether you like your new cut. At least if you're honest, she can set your hair back to the way it was.

7. Customize Nook Miles Rewards Furniture

Once you unlock the incredibly cute couple Cyrus and Reese on Harv's Island, you can customize furniture and items you receive from Nook Miles Rewards. These weren't usually customizable through the DIY workbench, but by paying Cyrus and Reese some bells, you can get access to all the other color options for these items, and they'll even get catalogued into your Nook Stop.

8. Weed Clean-Up Service

Leif won't just buy the clumps of weeds lying in your inventory, he'll also help you get rid of them on your island. After unlocking him on Harv’s island, he’ll tell you about his new service, after which you can select it as an option whenever you drop by to visit.

9. Check Your Friendship Level and Increase It

Katrina's back in business on Harv's island (once you unlock her that is), and she will read your fortune for the price of 1,000 bells. Apart from telling you about your luck, she'll also tell you what friendship level you’re at with your villagers. If you and your villager are best friends then you’ll share the "strongest of bonds." If you want to increase your friendship level with them, then Katrina will offer to "bless" your friendship and increase its level.

10. Star Fragments and Bell-filled Islands

It may happen that on a mystery tour with Kapp'n you'll find an island that has rocks filled with star fragments or bells instead of the usual clay or iron ore. It's pretty rare to come by, so if you come across it, count your stars lucky.

11. A Donation Box for Your Island

A new DIY recipe for a donation box has been added to the Nook Miles Rewards. It costs 800 Nook Miles, and the donation box takes four wood and four softwood to craft. People can then make a donation of 1,000 bells at a time. It's a bit of a pain if you want to donate more, but it's a nice little tip for whoever's island you'll be visiting. Spare change, anyone?

12. ABD Anytime

Other than resident services, you can access your bells in your account in more than one place on your island. Another new Nook Miles Reward is the ABD (Automatic Bell Dispenser) machine that you can place anywhere on your island. It's a bit pricey at 9,900 Nook Miles, and you also need to have your house upgraded to the max number of rooms which will cost you a total of 5,696,000 bells. At least it makes for a lot less running around. You can also change the color of your ABD from Cyrus and Reese over on Harv’s island.

13. A New Cooking Recipe Every Day (Happy Home Paradise DLC only!)

You'll unlock the restaurant on the Paradise Planning island after a total of 12 jobs. Once you design the restaurant and it’s open for business, you can talk to the chef once every day for them to give you a new cooking recipe. You can have your cake and eat it too.

14. Customize Polishing Effects (Happy Home Paradise DLC only!)

Also unlocked after 12 jobs, you'll be able to change the polishing effect to a custom design if you'd like. Sometimes regular sparkles just aren’t enough. People have already started doing some wacky things with it.

15. Poki Catalogue (Happy Home Paradise DLC only!)

After you spend about 150,000 poki at the Paradise Planning shop, you'll unlock a catalogue for ordering all the furniture you've used for designing houses for your personal use. All of these items can be bought using your hard-earned poki.
