The world of Pandora continues following last year's Avatar: Way of the Water with the full unveiling of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora today at Ubisoft Forward. The off-shoot of the James Cameron epic kicked off the show with a premiere trailer, debuting the never-before-seen Western Frontier of Pandora. You'll play as a child of two worlds, one who was born Na'vi but raised by the RDA. Fifteen years later, you escape but you find yourself a stranger in your homeland. In Frontiers of Pandora, you'll connect with that lost heritage and join other clans to protect Pandora from the RDA.
Created in collaboration with Disney and Lightstorm Entertainment, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set after the events of the first Avatar film and features a first-person open-world action-adventure developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Some of the features highlighted in addition to the open world include the concept of becoming a Na'vi. You'll be tasked with harnessing incredible strength and agility, along with crafting new gear and upgrading skills and weapons to fit your playstyle. Your character will be able to bond with a personal banshee that will give you an edge in aerial combat as well as a trusty mount. Combat styles are also important to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora with multiple available such as embracing traditional Na'vi weapons or using human guns and rifles. Additionally, you can play the full story campaign alone or co-op with a friend.
To give us a glimpse of what to expect when it releases on December 7, game director Ditte Deenfeld narrates a full six-minute gameplay walkthrough featuring footage captured in development on PS5. Not only does it showcase the Western Frontier of Pandora, but we're given a look at the various environments, traversal, the various Na'vi, and the elements involving character customization and weaponry. You can watch the full walkthrough below.
