Don't Nod has released a gameplay breakdown trailer for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, showing off how you'll explore the titular New Eden and fight the enemies that populate it.

After last week's dramatic story trailer gave us a glimpse into the tragic narrative of Antea and Red, this trailer is all about how they'll interact with the world around them in a practical (and spiritual) sense.

As the trailer kicks off, we get to see a few cinematic shots of the cold North American landscapes of New Eden, and we also get to see Red and Antea crossing "the Veil", the boundary between life and death.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden promises some pretty impressive vistas.

According to the trailer, you'll be able to traverse the Veil at will to explore New Eden, in a way that feels reminiscent of the dual-world mechanic in last year's Lords of the Fallen (albeit perhaps not quite so drastic as that).

We then get to see how the game's touted choice system will play out; you'll get the chance to save souls or to essentially contribute them towards your partner's resurrection, leading you towards "one ending...or another", as the trailer's voiceover dramatically intones.

The trailer moves on to combat next, where we get to see the player switching between Red and Antea, which you'll be able to do "at any time", with combo attacks also triggering depending on your timing.

As you play, you'll gather loot for Red and upgrade his arsenal, and you'll also be able to switch quickly between melee attacks and ranged weaponry as the situation demands. If you enjoyed Vampyr, you're in a similar ballpark here.

Red's skills will serve you best against undead enemies, while Antea's spectral abilities are great for both traversal and dealing devastating damage. However, you'll need to keep her fed with souls if you want her abilities to grow.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is due to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 13th.
