There are many valuable Resources in Below the Stone, but the various Ores that you can find throughout the Map are probably the most useful. Ore can be converted into better Pickaxes and strong Armor -- but you'll only be able to get it if you have the right Pickaxe. In this guide, we'll tell you everything you need to know about the various Ores!

Here is every Ore we've found in Below the Stone, where you can find it, and which Pickaxe you'll need to Mine it!
How to Mine Amethyst Shards
- Where to Find: Small deposits throughout Layer 1
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: N/A
Amethyst Shards are so tough that you cannot Mine them even with an Iron Pickaxe; instead, you'll need to use Dynamite to collect them.
How to Mine Coal
- Where to Find: Throughout Layer 1, typically at Coordinates 150 and lower
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Rusty Pickaxe
Coal is one of the most important Resources in Before the Stone; you'll need 1 piece of Coal to make any other Ore into an Ingot. You should always collect Coal whenever you see it.
In addition to its value for making Ingots, it also sells to the Goblin at a pretty decent price.
How to Mine Copper Ore
- Where to Find: Throughout Layer 1, typically at Coordinates 50 and higher
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Tin Pickaxe
You'll need to make a Tin Pickaxe before you can get Copper Ore, but it's worth it -- Copper is essential for the next stage of Armor after Tin.
How to Mine Corbomyte Ore
- Where to Find: Throughout Layer 1 (only when Corbomyte Ore Quest is active)
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Rusty Pickaxe
Corbomyte Ore is a Quest Ore; that means that it will only spawn when you have selected a Quest to Mine it.
How to Mine Fossil
- Where to Find: Throughout Layer 1
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Rusty Pickaxe
Fossil can spawn at any time, although its only use in the early game seems to be for the occasional collection Quest. Other than that, it's only really useful to sell it as far as I can tell.
How to Mine Iron Ore
- Where to Find: In Layer 1 at Coordinates 200 and higher
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Copper Pickaxe
Iron is used for the third tier of Armor and equipment. You're only going to find it on the outer edges of Layer 1, so it's a good idea to head straight in one direction if you want to find it.
How to Mine Lead Ore
- Where to Find: In small deposits throughout Layer 1
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Iron Pickaxe
Lead Ore represents the fourth and final tier of Armor and equipment for Layer 1. Unfortunately, there's no real way to reliably locate it; you're only going to find small deposits randomly placed throughout the world.
How to Mine Prismium Ore
- Where to Find: Throughout Layer 1 (only when Prismium Ore Quest is active)
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Rusty Pickaxe
Prismium Ore is a Quest Ore that will only spawn when you select a Quest to mine it. It has no other use.
How to Mine Rosalite Ore
- Where to Find: Throughout Layer 1 (only when Rosalite Ore Quest is active)
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Rusty Pickaxe
Rosalite Ore is one of the Quest Ores; that means that you'll only be able to find it when you've chosen a Quest to mine it. You won't be able to get it otherwise and it has no other use.
How to Mine Tin Ore
- Where to Find: Throughout Layer 1
- Minimum Pickaxe Needed: Rusty Pickaxe
Tin Ore is the very first tier of Ore that you can get in Before the Stone; it can be used to make the second Pickaxe and the first tier of Armor. You should spend your first hour or two of the game focusing on mining Tin and getting a full set of gear.
