Today developer Deep Field Games and publisher Playstack announced the release date of Abiotic Factor, their upcoming survival crafting game.
The game will launch on Steam on May 2, 2024. This is a full launch. No early access shenanigans.
On top of the announcement, a demo has been made available to celebrate Steam Next Fest, so you can give it a try right now on Steam if you so wish.
That being said, the demo won't be available forever, and you will be able to download it only until February 12, so if you're interested, you may want to get on it as soon as you can.
If you're unfamiliar with the game, "Abiotic Factor" is an online sci-fi survival crafting adventure game. You can play on your own or you can challenge the game's survival mechanics in a team of up to six players online.
Perhaps in an homage to Half-Life, it's set in a research facility that has been invaded by paranormal and interdimensional threats. As our planet's most prominent scientists, the players have to craft weapons and tools and try to survive against the odds.
Since different roles (including Plant Geneticist to Structural Engineer) with unique abilities are available, you can interact with your team to optimize your chances of survival.
Among the weird tools you can expect to craft are high-powered vacuums, explosive sledgehammers, portable jumping pads, electrifying Tesla coils, and sneaky trip mines. This should give you a good idea of the tone of the game. Basically, It's gonna be a wild ride.
A trailer is also available, and you can watch it below to get a better glimpse of what this game is all about.
Interestingly, Abiotic Factor's latest playtest was rather successful, with over 60,000 players. This allowed the development team to improve the balance of the game, including challenging gameplay and enjoyable co-op mechanics.
