Pugstorm and Fireshine Games have revealed the Core Keeper Shimmering Frontier update release date, and it's heading your way soon.
The next major content drop for the sandbox survival-craft-'em-up hits on October 4th, bringing a shiny new biome, new critters, and lots more. It'll be totally free, too!
Like the Desert of Beginnings and Sunken Sea updates before it, Shimmering Frontier brings a new area to explore, in this case one shimmering (hence the name) with crystals.
You'll find new Solarite ore there, too, which you can use to craft new equipment to help you survive more effectively.
New gear, like the ceiling-cracking Roofing Gadget or the destructive Obliteration Ray laser, will also be introduced in the Shimmering Frontier update.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Core Keeper update without new creatures to bar your path.
You can look forward to meeting the Mimite, a mimic-style crystal enemy, in the new biome, as well as the millipede-esque Nilipede and slimy Crystal Snail.
As well as the above, the Shimmering Frontier update also adds new items, Solarite-enhanced gathering and crafting equipment, and new items courtesy of the Crystal Merchant.
If you're a combat-oriented Core Keeper player, you can look forward to new battle arena-style scenarios that reward you for combat prowess.
This update is also adding the ability to upgrade your gear thanks to the Upgrade Station, as well as a new boss for the Sunken See biome and lots more. To put it simply, this is going to be a pretty packed Core Keeper update.
Core Keeper is available right now for PC via Steam Early Access.
Our very own Robert N. Adams described it as a "promising top-down take on Terraria", so if you love gathering, crafting, and building, this is one for you.
If you do check it out, be sure to take a look at our Core Keeper guides, too, where you'll find lots of helpful info!
