You can sell items once you unlock the Offering Chest. Unfortunately, you won't be able to get this until you've played the game for a few hours.

After conquering Darkwood, you'll be able to proceed to the second area Anura. A short while after exploring this zone, The One Who Waits will appear to you and give you an Offering Chest for the Cult.

The Offering Chest pays high prices for any item you can sell... at first. The more you sell an item, the lower its price gets. The price will gradually climb as you hold off selling a particular item, so your best strategy for selling items is to sell a wide variety of products.

The best way to make money in Cult of the Lamb is by a wide variety of items. The more you sell an item, the lower its price gets; the only way to combat this is to sell a bunch of different things.

I strongly recommend taking up Fishing to raise money. While some Fish are used for Cooking, the rarer Fish can sell for 20 Coins each! Combine that with the Ritual of the Ocean's Bounty and you could make hundreds of Coins in a single day.
