Remake, Remaster, Re-release, and now Redemption? The latest rumors swirling around the internet are claiming that a new version of Rockstar's modern classic, Red Dead Redemption is hitting the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series Consoles, PC for the first time (officially), and maybe even the Nintendo Switch.
But now we reach the important question. Will this be a remake? A remaster? Some other third thing? What's the difference between all of these terms anyway? Well on today's episode of Low Poly we define all these versions of re-releases and what exactly Red Dead Redemption should be if this rumor proves true.
This of course is following the most recent Rockstar re-release of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy which received overwhelmingly negative criticism from the handling of these classics by Grove Street Games to technical issues.
Since then, however, Rockstar has announced that Remedy Entertainment would be handling remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2 which was a move deemed promising, even by those disappointed with the GTA trilogy. After all Remedy released a game of the year contender with 2019's Control and this year's Alan Wake 2 looks quite promising.
So where does that leave us with a Red Dead Redemption Remake or Remaster? Is this something we should be excited for? Is the bar that has been raised and set by its successor going to make however we revisit the tale of John Marston an experience leaving us wanting more? Let's find out together.
