How Dinkum Crafting Works
Dinkum Crafting always takes place at some kind of workbench -- there is no option to Craft items in your hand. Generally speaking, you'll only be working with a handful of workbenches:
- Crafting Bench - Craft various decorative items, other workbenches, and other useful items
- Smelter - Turn Ore into Bars
- Table Saw - Turn Wood into Planks
- Camp Fire / BBQ / Cooking Table / Keg / Grain Mill - Used to Cook Food
Additionally, some NPCs will occasionally help out with Dinkum Crafting. Franklyn, for example, will make advanced items for you (such as Power Tools) for a price in Dinks plus the materials to make the item in question.
How to Unlock Items in Dinkum
There are four ways to unlock items in Dinkum:
- Progressing the story
- Purchasing Permits from Fletch
- Purchasing Crafting recipes from Franklyn
- Getting Crafting recipes as rewards for completing Favors or Tasks

Story Unlocks
These items are unlocked as you progress through the story, mainly by talking to Fletch.
Camp Fire
- Prerequisites - Complete the first few objectives on Day 1.
- Crafting Cost - 3 Stone, 2 Gum Log
Used for Cooking Meat and Fruit.
Crude Furnace
- Prerequisites - Collect materials for Fletch on Day 1
- Crafting Cost - 3 Stone, 1 Camp Fire, 5 Tin Ore
Smelts Tin and Copper Ore into their respective Bars.
Nails
- Prerequisites - Give Fletch a Tin Bar after Crafting Crude Furnace.
- Crafting Cost - 1 Tin
- Makes 8
Wooden Crate
- Prerequisites - Give Fletch a Tin Bar after Crafting Crude Furnace.
- Crafting Cost - 1 Palm Wood Plank, 2 Gum Wood Plank, 1 Nails
Allows you to store items.
Permit Unlocks
These items are automatically unlocked when you purchase certain Permits.
Animal Collection Point
- Prerequisites - Trapping License Level 1
- Crafting Cost - 2 Palm Wood Plank, 2 Hard Wood Plank, 1 Nails
Allows you to sell Trapped Animals for Dinks. Your Trap is returned the following day in the mail, along with your pay.
Animal Trap
- Prerequisites - Trapping License Level 2
- Crafting Cost - 1 Iron Bar, 1 Hard Wood Plank, 2 Old Spring
A sturdier Animal trap made with Iron.
Basic Hammer
- Prerequisites - Unlock Hunting License Level 1
- Crafting Cost - 1 Gum Wood Plank, 3 Tin Bar
Basic Spear
- Prerequisites - Unlock Hunting License Level 1
- Crafting Cost - 1 Gum Wood Plank, 1 Tin bar
Bird Coop
- Prerequisites - Handling License Level 1
- Crafting Cost - 4 Copper Bar, 4 Spinifex Tuft, 2 Tin Sheet, 3 Gum Wood Plank, 4 Nails
Gives Chooks somewhere to live on your island.
Brick Bridge
- Prerequisites - Building License Level 1
- Crafting Cost - 4 Bag of Cement, 15 Stone
Brick Fence
- Prerequisites - Landscaping License Level 2
- Crafting Cost - 2 Stone, 1 Bag of Cement

Croc Teeth Bat
- Prerequisites - Hunting License Level 2

Flaming Bat
- Prerequisites - Hunting License Level 3
- Crafting Cost - 1 Iron Bar, 2 Spinifex Resin, 2 Flame Sac, 2 Hard Wood Plank
Can set enemies on fire. Take care not to burn yourself!
Grain Mill
- Prerequisites - Unlock Farming License Level 1
- Crafting Cost - 4 Gum Wood Plank, 4 Old Gear, 2 Copper Bar, 1 Old Wheel
Turns Wheat into Flour and Sugarcane into Sugar.
Gum Wood Fence

Scythe

Used to cut grass and some Farming Crops (such as Sugarcane).
Simple Animal Trap
- Prerequisites - Trapping License Leve l1
- Crafting Cost -
Captures any wild Animal that walks on top of it. Reduce an Animal's health before trapping to prevent it from escaping.
Stone Steps
- Prerequisites - Landscaping License Level 1
- Crafting Cost - 1 Brick Path, 1 Bag of Cement
- Makes 4
Tin Fence
- Prerequisites - Landscaping License Level 2
- Crafting Cost - 4 Tin Sheet
- Makes 8
Tin Gate
- Prerequisites - Landscaping License Level 2
- Crafting Cost - 2 Tin Sheet
Windmill
- Prerequisites - Building License Level 2
- Crafting Cost - 20 Tin Sheet, 5 Old Gear, 5 Old Spring, 5 Iron Bar, 2 Old Wheel
Makes certain workbenches work faster when placed adjacent to the Windmill.
Wooden Bat
- Prerequisites - Unlock Hunting License Level 1
- Crafting Cost - 1 Gum Wood Plank, 2 Spinifex Resin
Franklyn Unlocks
Bomb
- Prerequisites - Donate Shiny Discs to Franklyn.
- Crafting Cost - 10,000 Dinks, 1 Day. 1 Fertilizer, 2 Bright Wire, 1 Sugar, 2 Crocodile Tooth
Will detonate shortly after being placed, destroying terrain and rocks. Will still explode when dropped in water.
Brick Flower Bed
- Prerequisites - Randomly available from Franklyn for 5,000 Dinks.
- Crafting Cost - 2 Bag of Cement, 1 Stone
- Makes 2
Allows you to place flowers for decoration.
Chainsaw
- Prerequisites - Donate Shiny Discs to Franklyn.
- Crafting Cost - 100,000 Dinks, 1 Day, 5 Old Gear, 2 Hot Cylinder, 1 Green Board, 8 Iron Bar, 1 Table Saw
Used to cut trees down quickly. Must be recharged via the Charging Station.
Charging Station
- Prerequisites - Donate Shiny Discs to Franklyn.
- Crafting Cost - 100,000 Dinks, 1 Day, 8 Copper Bar, 8 Iron Bar, 8 Bright Wire, 2 Green Board, 3 Hot Cylinder
Charges Power Tools like the Chainsaw or Metal Detector over time.
Cheese Maker
- Prerequisites - Randomly available from Franklyn for 5,000 Dinks.
- Crafting Cost - 1 Milkin Bucket, 2 Iron Bar, 4 Old Gear
Makes Cheese from Milk.
Compactor
- Prerequisites - Donate Shiny Discs to Franklyn.
- Crafting Cost - 50,000 Dinks, 1 Day, 5 Old Gear, 2 Hot Cylinder, 1 Green Board, 6 Iron Bar, 1 Shovel
Destroys terrain to make it level. The fastest way to flatten land.
Copper Street Lamp
- Prerequisites - Randomly available from Franklyn for 5,000 Dinks.
- Crafting Cost - 1 Quartz Crystal, 1 Copper Bar, 1 Glass Bulb
Gacha Machine
- Prerequisites - Donate Shiny Discs to Franklyn.
- Crafting Cost - 70,000 Dinks, 1 Day, 5 Old Gear, 2 Iron Bar, 1 Glass Bulb, 1 Button Board, 1 Old Toy
Gives random rewards the day after inserting 5000 Dinks. Items are mostly cheap, such as lower tier tools, though it does also dispense rarer items like the Worm Farm.
Helicopter
- Prerequisites - Level 3 Vehicle Licence.
- Crafting Cost - 3,000,000 Dinks, 1 Day, 10 Old Gear, 10 Old Spring, 15 Iron Bar, 4 Old Contraption, 10 Bright Wire
The fastest way to travel short of the Tele-Tower.
Hedge
- Prerequisites - Randomly available from Franklyn for 5,000 Dinks.
- Crafting Cost - 2 Spinifex Tuft, 2 Fern Seed, 2 Bush Seed
Jack Hammer
- Prerequisites - Donate Shiny Discs to Franklyn.

Destroys rocks quickly. Must be recharged via the Charging Station.
Jet Ski

Allows speedier travel on land.
Palm Wood Bench

Picket Fence
- Prerequisites - Randomly available from Franklyn for 5,000 Dinks.

Quarry
- Prerequisites - Donate Shiny Discs to Franklyn.
- Crafting Cost - 70,000 Dinks, 1 Day, 5 Old Gear, 1 Old Contraption, 3 Old Spring, 1 Button Board, 1 Old Toy
Automatically spawns barrels or Ore nodes one at a time in the four spaces surrounding it when placed on the ground.
Repair Table

- 4 Copper Bar, 5 Old Gear, 16 Nails
Allows you to expend a Repair Kit to repair all of the Tools in your pockets.
Scarecrow

Spinning Wheel
- Prerequisites - Randomly available from Franklyn for 5,000 Dinks.
- Crafting Cost - 4 Palm Wood Plank, 4 Old Gear, 1 Old Wheel
Makes Wool into Fabric.
Tractor
- Prerequisites - Level 2 Irrigation Licence, Level 1 Agriculture Vehicle Licence.
- Crafting Cost - 1,500,00 Dinks, 1 Day, 25 Old Gear, 4 Old Spring, 20 Iron Bar, 2 Old Contraption, 4 Old Wheel
Used to harvest crops, till dirt, fertilize, and plant crops in bulk. Features are locked based on the level of Agriculture Vehicle Licence you currently have:
- Level 1 - Harvesting
- Level 2 - Ploughing
- Level 3 - Planting (also allows for group fertilizing)
Weather Station
- Prerequisites - Donate Shiny Discs to Franklyn.
- Crafting Cost - 5,000 Dinks, 1 Day, 4 Gum Wood Plank, 2 Old Gear, 1 Nails, 1 Smooth Slate, 2 Quartz Crystal
Will show you the weather for the current and next day.
Wooden Flower Bed

Flower Pot
- Prerequisites - Random reward from completing Favor or Task.

Allows you to place Flowers for decoration.
Mushroom Lamp
- Prerequisites - Random reward from completing Favor or Task.
- Crafting Cost - 15 Glowing Mushroom, 2 Quartz Crystal, 1 Glass Bulb
Old Sign
- Prerequisites - Random reward from completing Favor or Task.
- Crafting Cost - N/A
Picket Gate
- Prerequisites - Random reward from completing Favor or Task.
- Crafting Cost - 2 Gum Wood Plank, 4 Nails
Wooden Sign
- Prerequisites - Random reward from completing Favor or Task
- Crafting Cost - 1 Hard Wood Plank, 1 Gum Wood Plank, 1 Mangrove Stick, 2 Nails
Use an item on it to put that item's icon on the sign. This does not consume the item.
