James Bendon, the solo dev behind Aussie farming hit Dinkum, has released the results of a community survey asking players what their opinion of the game is. It looks like players want to see a more populated Dinkum world, so get ready to see more animals and characters in the game before long.
Dinkum launched in Early Access back in July, racking up 350,000 sales in just a single month. Now, developer James Bendon has been asking some of those players various questions about Dinkum, including what they like about it, how they play it, and what score they would give it on a scale of 1 to 10.
In terms of score, it probably won't shock you to learn most players would award Dinkum an 8 out of 10 rating. The vast majority of players land somewhere between 7 and 10, with a few stragglers rating the game lower. Dinkum is also most frequently enjoyed in single-player mode, although 22% of its players actually play in multiplayer more than single-player.
Dinkum's "Australiana theme" popped up as one of its most popular features, according to Bendon, with other community highlights including the range of farm animals, the relaxing nature of the game, and the exploration. Less popular are things like the lack of variety in Dinkum's mines, the lack of cooking recipes, and the fiddly nature of terraforming.
Finally, Bendon asked Dinkum players what they would most like to see more of in the game. 79.7% of respondents answered that they wanted more stores and NPCs, while 67.2% wanted more wildlife. Other popular answers included more plants and animals, more activities, and extra quests to complete.
Bendon says that the things players liked and disliked are "things [he] wanted to focus and work on too", so that works out pretty well. Right now, there haven't been any major changes to the Dinkum roadmap, but Bendon says he'll let you know if any are made. We will, too.
