Gameloft has announced the Disney Dreamlight Valley 1.0 release date, so it won't be long before the cozy life sim gets its full release.

The game, which was released in Early Access last September, will launch in full on December 5th and will be released alongside an Expansion Pass by the name of A Rift In Time.

That pass, which you'll need to pay for, will bring a new adventure across Eternity Isle, in which you'll meet new characters, explore new areas, and enjoy new gameplay features and mechanics.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is almost ready to enter the real world, so to speak.

Unfortunately, A Rift In Time isn't the only thing you'll need to pay for.

Despite Gameloft announcing Disney Dreamlight Valley as a free-to-play title, the studio has now revised its plans, meaning the game will remain a paid product "for the foreseeable future".

Gameloft says this will allow it to "continue delivering on a premium game experience", and content updates that bring new characters, realms, and other goodies will still be free for players.

Naturally, you won't need to pay for Disney Dreamlight Valley again if you've already bought it, and you'll keep your Moonstones and your save when the game transitions out of Early Access.

Turns out Disney Dreamlight Valley won't be going free-to-play at launch after all.

According to Gameloft, purchases that need Moonstones "will remain optional [and] fair" and will "match the level of quality players have come to expect", too.

Several versions of the game will be available for new players at launch. Here are the versions of Disney Dreamlight Valley you'll be able to buy.

Standard edition ($39.99)

  • Base game (digital)
  • 8,000 Moonstones

Cozy Edition ($49.99)

  • Base game (physical)
  • 14,500 Moonstones
  • Cootage House skin
  • 5 Raccoon Companion skins
  • Cheshire Cat sweater
  • 1 of 6 posters
  • Sticker sheet

Gold Edition ($69.99)

  • Base game (digital)
  • Expansion Pass
  • 15,000 Moonstones
  • Flowery Capybara animal companion
  • Flowery Summer Cottage house style
  • Artist's Overalls avatar costume

It's not clear whether or not Gold Edition buyers will also get any of the goodies included in the Cozy Edition (although obviously, the physical extras won't be included).

If you buy a Founder's Pack before launch, however - or, indeed, if you've already bought one - then you'll get all of the Gold Edition's cosmetics at no extra cost. Everyone who buys a Founder's Pack will also be given 2,500 Moonstones.
