This year, Ravensburger and the Walt Disney Company released their collectible card game Disney Lorcana. Its first printing sold so well, they had to reprint more products to meet demand. Now, they have announced Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn; their first new set.
The Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn Announcement
According to an official press release, Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn will feature more than 200 cards with brand-new artwork.
This new set will dip into the inky origins of floodborn glimmers – Disney characters who were mysteriously transformed by a mysterious flood of ink. This magical ink mixed the six different magical inks into a chaotic form.
Any storyborn or dreamborn glimmers that encountered this flood became the first floodborn. But this flood wasn't entirely creative. As it overwhelmed the Great Illuminary, the flood took treasured lore with it; including King Triton's Trident.
As for the characters being introduced in Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn, there are plenty of fan favorites.
Winnie The Pooh, Tiana from The Princess and The Frog, as well as countless others from Zootopia, Pinocchio, The Great Mouse Detective, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves will be making their debut in this set.
Notably, Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn will introduce a new card keyword. The Resist keyword indicates how much additional damage characters may be able to withstand. Deckbuilders, start buildcrafting.
The new set will include two Starter Decks (MSRP $16.99), booster packs (MSRP $5.99), and Illumineer's Trove (MSRP $49.99), as well as new playmat (MSRP $19.99) and card sleeve designs (MSRP $9.99).
In addition, Ravensburger and Disney have announced a second Disney Lorcana set. Disney Lorcana: Disney100 Edition is a set celebrating the company's 100th anniversary.
It will contain six cards from both The First Chapter and Rise of the Floodborn sets, featuring exclusive never-before-seen artwork drawn by official animators from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Each card features an exclusive frame design, a satin holographic foil finish, and a copy of the animator’s signature.
Each set of Disney Lorcana: Disney100 Edition will include four Rise of the Floodborn booster packs. This limited edition set will be available in both local game stores and retail outlets on December 1 for $49.99.
Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn will release in local game stores on November 17, followed by mass market retailers on December 1.
