D3Publisher and Sandlot have announced a Western Earth Defense Force 6 release window, so it's finally almost time to suit up and squash some bugs.
Earth Defense Force 6 was announced all the way back in 2020, then released in Japan last year.
Since then, the game has received two major DLC packs (again, in Japan only), with the second coming in June this year.
Now, it seems that Western fans' wait for the game is finally over, as a release window of spring 2024 has been announced for the bug-slaying shooter.
D3Publisher's announcement is characteristically quirky, too, reflecting the series' cheerfully eccentric feel. You can check out the Western release window announcement trailer right here.
If you've played Earth Defense Force before, you'll know exactly what to expect from this latest installment.
As usual, the new game will bring tons of janky bug shooting, complete with massive insects crawling all over cityscapes, increasingly ludicrous weaponry, and lurching tonal shifts.
The sixth game boasts the largest number of missions and weapons ever included in an Earth Defense Force game, as well as online co-op for up to four players.
If you prefer to share the hilarity with your buddies, you can also play in offline co-op split-screen mode.
Rather amusingly, the Steam page boasts the ability to "fight alongside real EDF members from across the country", so you can hear the war stories of real-life people who've fought off giant wasps the size of skyscrapers, apparently.
In any case, Earth Defense Force launches in the West sometime in spring for PC and PlayStation consoles.
A second Earth Defense Force: World Brothers game is also in the works, although we don't yet know if that one will ever see the light of day outside Japan. Stay tuned for more on all things Earth Defense Force.
