Studio Head at Zenimax Online Studios, Matt Firor, announced that the Elder Scrolls Online will not only receive a new chapter, Necrom, but a brand new class that has been requested for quite some time.
The new Arcanist class is making its way to Elder Scrolls Online this June, coming with a slew of new abilities and of course a new area to traverse as well. The Necrom chapter is part of the Shadow over Morrowind saga and brings players back to Morrowind, where they come into contact with Hermaeus Mora once again. Players will have to pass the Prince's tests to see if they are worthy of protecting him.
There will also be a brand new take on Morrowind, where the alien landscape and mushrooms are present, but with a twist. The main city of Necrom is in the Telvanni peninsula and will be filled to the brim with undead and decay. This area has not been seen within an Elder Scrolls game since 1994, but we go right back into the story of the Dark Elves who made this place their home. Players will explore the lore as to why the elves made this place their home, ancient secrets held within the city's walls, and learn why humans never ventured here for long.
Apocrypha is also making a comeback, bringing us back to a land we haven't ventured through for decades. The last time this area was relevant was in The Elder Scrolls Online V: Skyrim—Dragonborn DLC, and now we get to see the library of forbidden knowledge in a whole new light.
Lastly, we learn of one of the most anticipated additions to ESO; a brand-new class. The Arcanist is coming to the game and brings an entirely new way to play. The class uses runic magic to summon enemies or even heal allies as they take damage. There are three skill lines to follow including offense, defense, and support, meaning the class is not only versatile but powerful as well. The developers wanted this class to be easy to understand and master, so players who are just jumping in and those who are veterans should be able to handle the class well. Whether you want to heal friends in battle or turn your arm into a giant tentacle weapon, the new Arcanist class has you covered.
Elder Scrolls Online Necrom will be available on June 5, 2023, for PC and June 20, 2023, for console players.
