Keen Games has announced the Enshrouded Early Access release date, and it won't be too long before you get to check out this ambitious voxel RPG.
Enshrouded will officially arrive on PC via Steam Early Access on January 24th, having already given players a chance to check it out through a demo earlier this year.
To commemorate the release date announcement, Keen Games also launched a new trailer with a tongue-in-cheek approach to humor and some new gameplay tidbits to check out.
You can take a look at that trailer right here.
Announced in May, Enshrouded is a survival action RPG with voxel visuals and a newcomer-friendly approach to the genre.
The game will mix Breath of the Wild-inspired exploration with Valheim-esque survival mechanics, as well as combat, building, and even terraforming the land around you.
You might know developer Keen Games' name from its previous outing, Portal Knights, which was also a voxel-based action RPG with an emphasis on building.
The studio describes Portal Knights as the "spiritual foundation" of Enshrouded, but the new game looks like a decidedly more ambitious project than its predecessor.
Keen Games promises an in-depth skill tree that will allow you to shape your character however you like, as well as deep voxel-based building and crafting, a "staggering array" of weapons and armor to craft, and multiplayer that supports up to 16 players.
We'll have to wait and see whether that ambition carries over into Enshrouded's execution, but TechRaptor's Robert Adams and Isaac Todd came away impressed in their preview.
Robert praised the game's "thrilling" combat and "promising" gameplay, while Isaac appreciated Keen Games' attempt to do "familiar things but in the best way possible".
Enshrouded launches for PC via Steam Early Access on January 24th. You'll be able to make your own mind up about the game then.
