Our guide will tell you how to get a Glider in Enshrouded -- and how you can make an even better Glider to travel much further than before!
The world of Enshrouded is quite massive, even at its early access launch -- it can take you quite a long time to travel across the map if you're going to do it on foot.
Quick Glider Tip: Picking up Double Jump from the Survivor Skill Tree, and Updraft from the Assassin Skill Tree will let you maximize your flight time and distance!
How to Get a Glider in Enshrouded
You can get your first Glider in Enshrouded fairly early in the game by gathering the following items:
- 8 Shroud Wood
- 2 Animal Fur
- 2 String
- 2 Shroud Spores
First and foremost, you'll need to have a Workbench at your base. This can be made from Wood Logs (which you can get from cutting down Trees) and String (which can be crafted in your inventory from Plant Fiber).
Next, you should hunt Wolves in the starting area. Aside from dropping Wolf Meat, they also have a chance to drop Bones and Animal Fur. You only need 2 Animal Fur, so it shouldn't take too long.
The final two items are Shroud Wood and Shroud Spores. Shroud Wood can be acquired by chopping down Trees within the Shroud. You can get your hands on Shroud Spores by killing enemies within the Shroud.
Once you have all of the necessary items, return to your base and you can craft a Glider at your Workbench. You can then equip it on your character in the menu's Character screen.
How Your Glider Works
As you might expect, your Glider allows you to glide through the air for some distance. You will slowly consume Stamina and lose altitude as you glide. (If you've played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you'll be familiar with this system.)
First, you'll have to craft a Glider and equip it. Once you have that done, you'll be able to tap the spacebar anytime you're in the air and you'll immediately begin to glide. You can cancel your glide by right-clicking and you can re-initiate it by tapping the spacebar after a short cooldown.
You will stop gliding when you hit the ground, hit a wall, or run out of Stamina. If you run out of Stamina in the air, you will drop straight to the ground and you'll run the risk of potentially lethal fall damage.
Although you'll stop gliding when you hit the ground, you can continue gliding on a downward slope. Try to aim for downward hills if you're running out of altitude, but take care not to go too far and fly off of a cliff!
How to Get an Advanced Glider
You can get the Advanced Glider in Enshrouded by gathering the following items and NPCs:
- All NPCs unlocked
- 6 Shroud Wood
- 4 Linen
- 4 String
- 8 Shroud Sack
The Carpenter NPC will be available for rescue a short time after you've saved the Blacksmith NPC; check out our NPCs guide to learn how to rescue all of them.
You already know how to get Shroud Wood and String. Linen is a little more challenging -- you'll need to find Flax in Revelwoods, and if you have the Farmer, you can farm it fairly easily. Then, you'll need to turn it into Linen with a Hand Spindle, which is obtained via a Hunter NPC Quest.
Fossilized Bone can be acquired in the Nomad Highlands -- simply smash up the gigantic skeletons with a pickaxe and you'll get some.
Finally, there's Shroud Sacks. As the name implies, they can be found in the Shroud; specifically by defeating the blue flower-like enemies or the red four-legged enemies in Revelwood and Nomad Highlands, respectively.
How to Get an Extraordinary Glider
Getting an Extraordinary Glider is a little more complicated than the Advanced Glider; here's what you'll need
- All NPCs unlocked
- 4 Shroud Wood
- 2 Leather
- 2 Linen
- 4 Alchemical Base
You can easily get Shroud Wood by chopping down trees in the Shroud and we addressed how to get Linen in the previous section.
Getting Leather is going to require completing a quest for the Hunter to unlock the Tanning Station. Once you do, you'll need Dried Fur and Salt in decent quantities along with a handful of Ammonia Glands, the latter of which you can find in the Shroud.
Finally, there's the Alchemical Base. As you might expect, you can make it at the Alchemy Station using Shroud Liquid, Mycelium, Water, and Shroud Spores.
All of these items combined will get you one of the finest Gliders in the game, though there is still one more to go: the Ghost Glider.
Collecting the Best Glider in Enshrouded
The Ghost Glider is something you'll get without needing to craft it. It requires that you've made your way to the Kindlewastes, as well as some of the requirements below:
- All NPCs unlocked
- All Production Places/workbenches unlocked
- Complete the first Sun Temple Quest.
Once you've completed the above, the Alchemist will give you a quest called "Among the Bluejays" - which sends you to the desert area towards the bottom right of the map (shown below.)
Once you've gotten the quest, head to Scatterbone, and the Sun Temple you find there. Be prepared, this is a level 30 area with TWO Matrons to fight as you close in on the Sun Temple.
To enter the Scatterbone Sun Temple: Shoot the switches to the right and left of the door, and behind you on the back of the arch facing the sun temple.
Once you're inside, fight a few more enemies to make it to the 2nd floor, and you'll find another puzzle that needs switches flipped:
- Switch 1 - Behind a bookshelf in front of the door
- Switch 2 - On the Southeast Balcony
- Switch 3 - Shoot this through a hole on the West Side
- Switch 4 - Inside, you'll find this above you in the Southwest corner of the 2nd floor.
With the door unlocked, head upwards towards the top of the structure. You'll need to make your way around (and have a lockpick ready) to the other side, where you head up some steps and fight off a few pesky bird enemies.
Once you get all the way to the top - you'll find the Ghost Glider inside the chest, giving you this Extraordinary Glider, and unlocking the recipe if you want to re-craft it.
Ghost Glider Crafting Recipe
You'll need the following items to craft the Ghost Glider if you need another:
- 3 Shroud Wood
- 2 Fabric
- 4 Enshrouded Oil
- 1 Sulfur
- 1 String
Now that you've climbed the ranks of gliders, you've got a Glider that is 25% faster and with a 25% greater range compared to the Extraordinary Glider. It's the absolute best Glider that you can get in the early access launch version of the game -- have fun!
