Today, during a PlayStation State of Play broadcast, Square Enix announced the release of a demo of its upcoming JRPG Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

The demo is available to download now for PS5 on the PlayStation Store, providing an extensive look into what we can expect from the game.

The demo includes the Nibelheim flashback in which you can play as both Cloud and Sephiroth, while the Junon region will be added at a later time, on February 21.

We can definitely expect plenty of figures and fan art featuring these outfits.

We get a trailer focusing on several exciting aspects of the story, including both cutscenes and gameplay. Personally, I have to say that I consider the trailer pretty spoiler-heavy, but you can watch it below at your own risk.

During the broadcast, we also got to see plenty of gameplay beyond the demo, starting with a showcase of the regions included in the game's world.

We get to see how we can help Chadley to research material and proto-artifacts, on top of odd jobs that include their own stories.

Next on the menu are minigames on the Gold Saucer, including returning ones, revamped ones, and even brand-new ones. On top of that, we also get to take a look at the story and graphics, including different modes. You can pick between performance mode to prioritize framerate, or graphics mode to prioritize resolution.

We also hear about the way each character can interact with the world and about the score, which includes returning tunes and rearrangements, on top of over 400 new tracks.

You can affect the bonds between Clouds and its companions with the choices you make during quests, determining how they feel about the protagonist and who will go on the date with him at the Gold Saucer, including options that weren't available in the original game.

You can watch the gameplay video below, alongside new key art featuring Aerith at the bottom of the post.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released for PS5 is just three weeks, on February 29, 2024. If you want to reserve a physical copy, you can already pre-order one on Amazon.

This release is very important for Square Enix, which is counting on it to reach its financial targets for the full fiscal year ending in March 2024.
