In this Final Fantasy XVI Hunts Guide we will give you all of the information you need to know on each of the game's 32 hunts, including how to unlock them, where you can find them out in the world, and what rewards you'll be able to gain from defeating them.
Hunts are a source of rare crafting materials, including the elusive Orichalcum used to craft Final Fantasy XVI's best weapon, Gotterdammerung. However, some hunts can only be found during (or after) side quests, so make sure to keep on top of those as you're hunting.
Where is the Hunt Board in Final Fantasy XVI?
The Hunt Board is set up by Nektar the Moogle in Final Fantasy XVI and will be accessible via The Hideaway. There are a number of story events that need to occur before you'll gain access to the Hunt Board so chances are you'll have already put in 10 hours or so.
The best way to know when the Hunt Board will become available to you is that you'll run across your first hunt naturally as part of "The Gathering Storm" main scenario's sub-quest "Release"
After fighting the Ahriman C-Rank hunt in Release when you return to The Hideaway Nektar will have set up his Hunt Board that will tell you about the other hunts that are available in the moment.
How do I get more FFXVI Hunts?
Hunts are primarily added to Final Fantasy XVI through the progress of the Main Scenario. You'll find yourself completing a story moment, returning to the Hideaway, and there be a notification on your map that new things have been added to the Hunt Board.
That's not the only way that Hunts are added though, Hunts will also be added as part of certain side-quests where the requester is asking that you kill a special monster or they're asking for a part of that specific monster.
Where can I locate the S-Rank Hunts?
There are five S-Rank Hunts in the game, these get added to the Hunt Board like normal but unlike regular hunts they don't list a location where you can find them. Instead they provide you with a text clue from the person who posted the hunt. From that text clue you're meant to infer it's location and track it down yourself.
If you want to know the locations of these S-Rank Hunts be sure to check out our location guides:
