Final Fantasy XVI The Masterless Marauder Hunt Location

The Masterless Marauder is an S-Rank Hunt in Final Fantasy XVI that you obtain after completing the Nobody's Tool side quest. Instead of giving you a location to visit the S-Rank Hunts in Final Fantasy XVI instead only give you a text hint of where the Hunt might have been seen. In this guide we'll show you when the Masterless Marauder Hunt will appear, what the hint is, and where to find him in the world.

When do you receive The Masterless Marauder hunt?

The Masterless Marauder isn't a hunt that appears through regular story progression, instead it unlocks after you've completed the Nobody's Tool side quest. Nobody's Tool is an available quest after speaking with Jill during the Back to Their Origin Main Scenario. Talking to Dorys she'll let you know that she's trying to track down someone she used to know who is in Balmung Dark, a prison on Ash. During the course of this mission you'll head to Balmung Dark, defeat some Akashic Guards, and then learn of the Kuza Beast - a Behemoth that those who run the prison have been feeding Bearers to. After defeating the Lv 40 Kuza Beast the side quest will conclude but it seems that wasn't the only Behemoth that they were training.

After completing the Nobody's Tool side quest the Hunt Board will update with a poster for The Masterless Marauder. When you check the posting on the Hunt Board you'll receive the following hint:

The Waloeder army captured such beasts and tried to train them to serve, but this particular specimen's training has long since ceased. Whether it's captors turned Akashic with the rest of their comrades or were eaten by their pet when it broke free from its bonds, we shall never know. All we do know is there is none left alive who knows the words to put an end to its rampage - only a show of force will suffice.

The key clue to take away from this is that the Masterless Marauder used to be restrained at the prison, but is now free. 

The Masterless Marauder Location

While the hints to find the Masterless Marauder are perhaps the most vague this hunt is actually one of the fastest to find. The Closest Waypoint is Vidargraes at the very North of Waloed. After spawning into the area you should see the King Behemoth immediately to your right.

The King Behemoth is a level 47 Behemoth King. If you're taking this on as one of your final hunts of the game you'll likely be a few levels above it. A lot of the King Behemoth's attacks are flashy, like Reign of Fire that will cause meteors to fall from the sky, but they all have plenty of warning and any that cause a large area of effect are also relatively slow allowing you to easily dodge around them.

For defeating the King Behemoth and completing the Masterless Marauder hunt you'll earn the following rewards:

• 32000 EXP
• 200 AP
• 20000 Gil
• 55 Renown
• 1x Behemoth Shackle
• 1x Orichalcum

Orichalcum is an important material as it's needed to craft the most powerful equipment in the game, the Gotterdammerung sword and the Ouroborus Belt and Vambraces.
