Stunlock Studios has announced the first major V Rising update. Secrets of Gloomrot will bring an entire biome for you to explore, and as the name suggests, it'll be full of twisted secrets for you to uncover. The update is arriving in May, so get ready to rise out of your coffin once more.
In the Steam announcement for Secrets of Gloomrot, Stunlock promises "polluted valleys and lightning-scorched highlands", as well as a wide range of new beasties to take down as a result of The Trancendum's mutated experiments. Of course, there will also be plenty of fresh food for you as a vampire, so you'll be able to gain new knowledge and "enter a new age of technology".
The new Gloomrot biome will, according to Stunlock, be split into two areas, both of which combined will be around the same size as the Dunley Farmlands area. Both Gloomrot South and Gloomrot North will have a range of new enemies and challenges to complete, as well as lots of space to build multi-floor strongholds.
May is going to be a busy month for V Rising. As well as this new biome, you can also look forward to overhauls for the magic system, as well as a new Jewels feature that will help you create specialized builds for your bloodsucker. By that point, V Rising will have been on release for a year, so it makes sense for some big changes to start occurring around that time.
It's important to note that none of this constitutes the V Rising 1.0 release. That's planned for sometime in the future, and the game is likely to look pretty different to its current incarnation when 1.0 rolls around. In the meantime, though, V Rising's Secrets of Gloomrot update arrives in May. You can check the game out right now on PC via Steam, where it's in Early Access.
