The Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3: Complete Edition now has an official release date.

The ambitious RPG by CD Projekt Red had a brand new trailer for the game at Gamescom ONL, showing off the Switch version of the game in all of its glory. Nothing was short-changed, as tons of scenes and moments from the game featuring Geralt's' adventures seeped into the trailer.

Though not true HD quality, the game itself still runs smoothly with dynamic resolution topping out at 720p. It is honestly a bit impressive that Witcher 3 can fit onto the Switch, but that is a testament to the power of the hardware and the skill of the developers to make it happen.

The Witcher 3 was the third game in the Witcher series by CD Projekt Red, a series of RPG's that focus around the titular Witcher Geralt of Rivia. The Witcher 3 was critically acclaimed, combining action-based combat and a large, story-driven narrative with an open-world design. Two large pieces of DLC, Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, were also released along with dozens of smaller bits of content.

As a special treat, CD Projekt Red Community Manager Pawel Burza and Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko showcased a 40-minute video that shows off the Switch version in action. Burza and Sasko also go over some of the games standard features, from the open world to player choice, and even showcase a questline to demo to players the quality of the game on the console.

The full package, The Witcher III: Complete Edition, was released on PS4, Xbox One and PC previously. Now, Nintendo fans will have access to the series for the first time, when the Complete Edition gets released on October 15th, 2019. For those at Gamescom this year, they can play the Switch version starting today, until the conference ends on August 24th.
