Today, during the Frosty Faustings tournament, Cygames has news to share about the next update coming to its fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.
Director Tetsuya Fukuhara wasn't able to be at the tournament but shared a video message during the livestream in which he revealed that update 1.2 and its corresponding DLC and Battle Pass will come on February 20.
In addition to 2B from NIeR: Automata joining the game as a DLC character, 1.2 will bring "various updates." 2B's battle style is still being fine-tuned so her gameplay will be released at a later date.
That being said, we hear that players will become able to equip weapon cutouts in online lobbies.
We also get the reveal of a new costume for Zeta named "Crimson Bomber" that will be included in the Premium Battle Pass.
You can see the costume in action in the video below.
Fukuhara-san mentioned that he's grateful for the high number of participants in the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising tournament at Frosty Faustings and mentioned that the developers are aware of the online matchmaking issues that have affected the game as of late, and apologized for the inconvenience.
He also pledged that the developers will continue to work hard to fix these errors and make the game the best it can be.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is currently available for PS5, PS4, and PC. It's a re-release of the original Granblue Fantasy: Versus that launched in 2020 including additional gameplay mechanics and new characters like Grimnir, Nier, Siegfried, Anila, and Lucilius.
The original game was launched during the peak of the Pandemic, basically killing Cygames eSport plans for it. Luckily, it appears that the relaunch is off to a good start, providing the game with a second lease on life.
If you're interested in the Granblue Fantasy IP in general, you can also look forward to Granblue Fantasy: Relink, which is coming in a few days and is a full-fledged action JRPG that shares many characters with Versus: Rising.
