Dinkum has been one of the biggest indie hits this year. That's saying something considering the success of indies such as Cult of the Lamb and V Rising. Publisher and developer James Bendon is building off this success by launching a new Dinkum update that adds a new wild animal, 3 guest houses, a new mystery crop, and much more.
Possibly the most notable addition to this Dinkum update is The Frilly, which is inspired by one of Bendon's favorite Australian creatures. They're fast little critters who roam around the desert biome, and when provoked they'll fight back with a quick bite and another surprise if you manage to anger them enough. If you manage to kill one, you might receive a thunder sack used to make a new item that can be utilized while exploring the underground.
Another big addition is the inclusion of Guest Houses. A total of three can be built on your island, and they can be used to store your crops and farming materials in one place. They can also be used as a place for your friends to stay when they come visit. The deeds will be offered by Fletch once you've managed to upgrade your tent into a home.
Key bindings are finally included, which means that the ability to key-bind up to two different keys per action is in the game. This has been a standard feature for PC games for many decades now, so it's somewhat surprising Dinkum didn't launch with this feature. Regardless, it's in the game now.
Last but not least, there are new items, recipes, and secrets that you can track down, along with a valuable new mystery crop. Alpha Animals will now drop unique items, and something interesting starts happening in the mines after 12:00 AM. If you'd like to check out the patch notes, be sure to go here.
This update is the first released as part of Dinkum's roadmap. The other updates will add Seasonal Events, NPC's, new activities, items, and a lot more. For more information on Dinkum and other sandbox titles, stay tuned to TechRaptor.
