Today Sega released a new trailer of its upcoming Yakuza game Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and it's going to hit fans of Kazuma Kiryu in the stomach like one of the veteran hero's most powerful punches.
I'm being serious here, if you don't want to cry like a baby, you better skip this trailer. Also, it can be considered a pretty big spoiler if you haven't kept up with the news, I suppose. Keep that in mind before you proceed.
The trailer also celebrates the 18th anniversary of the release of the original Yakuza game on December 8, 2005, so this is definitely a very appropriate date for a walk down memory lane with Kiryu-san.
That's exactly what the trailer is all about. Kazuma Kiryu has cancer, and his friends encourage him to write a bucket list of things he wants to do before he passes away.
We get to see quite a few beloved characters from the previous games of the series, including Makoto Date, Sotaro Komaki, and even Kaoru Sayama. Could we finally get some closure between her and Kiryu-san? Only time will tell.
You can check out the trailer in English below.
If you really want to cry, you'll probably want to watch the trailer in Japanese, with Kazuma Kiryu's original voice Takaya Kuroda.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released quite soon, on January 26, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You pre-order a physical copy on Amazon if you so wish.
I had the opportunity to enjoy part of the game at Tokyo Game Show and you can enjoy my detailed hands-on preview if you'd like to read my thoughts about it.
If you'd like to see more, you can watch another recent trailer in English which also provided a glimpse of the performances of Daniel Dae Kim as Masataka Ebina and Danny Trejo as Dwight Méndez. We also have another video focusing on popular Vtuber Kson's character, Kei.
