The Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Secretversary Superdrop
According to an official press release, the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Secretversary Superdrop contains a bunch of classic cards, reinterpreted with guest artwork or with unique or novel ideas.
The first of these is a set of cards featuring the abstract artwork of Sub-Pop Records' art director, Jesse LeDoux. LeDoux's distinct art style will bring new life to five cards including, Giver of Runes, Distant Melody, and Cathartic Reunion.
Several other drops in the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Secretversary also feature guest artists.
The technosynth work of artist James White aka Signalnoise is showcased in Mycosynthwave.. Micha Huigan's expressive painterly art brings a new look to various time-altering cards in Tales of the Time Stoppers.
Dani Pandergast's bold color palette lights up the void in Through The Wormhole. Lastly, Elk64 brings a serene winter interpretation to basic land cards in Paradise Frost.
But arguably the biggest draw in this Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Secretversary Superdrop are cards based on Jurassic World.
Each card in the Jurassic World Secret Lairs is based on cards in the upcoming set: Lost Caverns of Ixalan. The first of these, Life Breaks Free, is themed around dinosaurs breaching containment. Said dinos include the classic T-Rex and Velociraptor, as well as the Spinosaurus and Indominus Rex.
The second of these Jurassic World drops centers on a single scientist: Dr. Ian Malcolm. This drop includes cards like Tasha's Hideous Laughter rebranded to Malcolm's Mercurial Mirth, and Tasigar, the Golden Fang reimagined as Ian, Convalescent Charmer.
Every one of the above mentioned in the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Secretversary Superdrop is available for pre-order today thru December 26.
