Recently, Wizards of the Coast revealed their Magic Secret Lair Fall Superdrop 2023. These premium sets have always featured artists' interpretations of different parts of the wildly popular card game, last October's featured Junji Ito, but this year's sets may be its most eclectic.

The Magic Secret Lair Fall Superdrop 2023 Announcement

There are seven different sets in the Magic Secret Lair Fall Superdrop 2023. Each one contains alternate versions of certain Magic: The Gathering cards, which usually revolve around a theme.

The first set is called Absolute Annihilation. This set contains the cards Oppression, Abrade, Mass Hysteria, and Terminate, featuring artwork by Tomo77. Said artwork re-imagines the cards as authoritarian propaganda, invoking George Orwell's novel, 1984.

Following that is Now on VHS!. As the name implies, this set contains cards as old VHS cassette covers, complete with pulpy retro artwork. The cards getting this analog treatment are Rewind, Food Chain, Rampant Growth, and The First Sliver.

The artists credited with this throwback are Julie Dillon, Chris Seaman, David Robert Hovey, Svetlin Velinov, and Scott Okumura.

Keep Partying Hard, Shred Harder Than You Previously Thought Possible is a heavy metal art set. It features the work of Mark Riddick, Rishxxv, WolfSkullJack, and N.C. Winters.

This set contains Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools, Godo, Bandit Warlord, Jeska, Thrice Reborn, and Vial Smasher The Fierce.

Buggin' Out features the psychedelic visual excess of Wooden Cyclops. It contains Eldritch Evolution, Giant Adephage, Noxious Revival, Grist, The Hunger Tide, and Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest.

The Magic Secret Lair Fall Superdrop 2023 also contains two sets featuring two artists. Featuring: Gary Baseman contains a set of land cards featuring the artist's distinct creepy-cute identity.

The second of these artist showcase sets is Featuring: Kev Walker. This set contains a Faeburrow Elder, Carnage Tyrant, Fleshbag Marauder, and It That Betrays, all in Walker's majestic and raw visual style.

What kind of stadium could account for their power I wonder?

Arguably the most unusual set in the Magic Secret Lair Fall Superdrop 2023 is Magic: The Baseballing. This set takes various Planeswalkers from the game and re-imagines them as Baseball stars, complete with 1960s-style artwork and frames.

The Planeswalkers getting this sports star treatment are Ajani Goldmane, Jace Beleren, Liliana Vess, Chandra Nalaar, and Garuuk Wildspeaker. The artists on these cards are Fay Dalton and Scott Okumura.

Each set in the Magic Secret Lair Fall Superdrop 2023 is available for pre-order right now in Foil (MSRP $39.99 each) and Non-Foil (MSRP $29.99).

In addition, there are four different bundles. These include all Non-Foil sets (MSRP $179.99) all Foil sets (MSRP $239.99), and the Bugs, Bands, and Blockbusters Bundle which contains the Keep Partying Hard, Buggin' Out, and Now On VHS! sets in both Foil (MSRP $105.99) and Non-Foil (MSRP $79.99)
