During Sony's quarterly financial conference call for investors and analysts, CFO and COO Hiroki Totoki announced a sales milestone for Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
According to the executive, the game has sold through to customers over 5 million units worldwide as of October 30.
Totoki-san also added that the game has "become a big hit."
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was released on October 20, which means that this massive 5 million number was reached in just a week and a half on the physical and digital store shelves.
That's definitely flattering and is a significant jump ahead compared to the 2.5 million copies sold on the first day of availability.
If you're unfamiliar with it, the game is a direct sequel of the original Marvel's Spider-Man, which developer Insomniac Games released in 2018, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which followed its predecessor in 2020.
Incidentally, we just learned that the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine game that is currently in the works is also set in Earth-1048, which is the universe in which Insomniac's games dedicated to your friendly neighborhood spider-man are set.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is currently available exclusively for PS5. If you'd like to know more, you can read our review.
Our Andrew Stretch was definitely impressed, awarding the game with a glorious 9.5 out of 10. In the review, he defined it an "incredible experience" mentioning that Insomniac "just doesn't miss." He also added that, no matter what you're doing, you'll always feel engaged in the game's world, which is certainly high praise.
Incidentally, if you still don't have your copy, you can purchase one on Amazon.
