Today Meta revealed the Meta Quest 3, the new generation of the self-contained virtual reality headset.
The price starts at $499.99 for the 128GB version, and it'll ship this fall. Meta claims that the headset is its most powerful yet, featuring a next-generation Snapdragon chipset developed in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, promising twice the graphical performance of the GPU included in the Meta Quest 2.
For those who don't want a bulky headset, Meta claims the Quest 3 has a 40% slimmer optics profile without the foam facial interface compared to its predecessor and completely redesigned controllers with the TruTouch haptics from the TouchPro.
The headset will also feature the "Meta Reality" technology that features "High-fidelity color Passthrough, innovative machine learning, and spatial understanding let you interact with virtual content and the physical world simultaneously."

On top of the reveal of the Meta Quest 3, Meta also announced a price cut for the previous generation, the Meta Quest 2 and the Meta Quest Pro. The new price is $299.99 for the 128GB SKU and $349.99 for the 256GB.
A software update coming down the line also promises "up-to 26% CPU performance increase with an up-to 19% GPU speed increase for Quest 2 and 11% for Quest Pro." Both headsets will then receive Dynamic Resolution Scaling support to possibly enable even smoother gameplay.
