A beloved TTRPG adaptation of Brandon Sanderson's work will be leaving digital stores. Specifically, the Mistborn Adventure Game, based on Sanderson's fantasy novels, will no longer be sold digitally by DriveThruRPG, one of the largest digital stores in the industry.
Mistborn Adventure Game Leaving DriveThruRPG
In the description of the Mistborn Adventure Game Core Rulebook and any supplemental material on DriveThruRPG, an important notice has been added.
That notice states, "Mistborn Adventure Game Digital Editions will no longer be available after December 31st, 2023. Get them now or they're gone forever."
Mistborn is a series of epic fantasy novels written by Sanderson. The first trilogy of books was published in 2006 and 2008 and has become wildly successful. So successful that one of the characters, Keisler, was featured in Fortnite.
Sanderson still writes books set within this universe to this day alongside his more recent series: Stormlight Archives.
This TTRPG adaptation was developed by Crafty Games and published in December 2011. Sanderson himself was involved in the game's creation, working alongside Crafty Games' team.
Since the game is twelve years old, it means digital copies may be the most feasible way of experiencing this TTRPG. Physical copies are out of print. Going to Crafty Games' online store lists their Mistborn material as Legacy Content and simply links back to DriveThruRPG.
In addition, there is no option for print on demand when purchasing from DrivethruRPG. There is always the option to buy physical books secondhand, but those carry the risk of books being worn or damaged.
It must also be stated that DriveThruRPG is a foundational outlet when it comes to digital TTRPG materials. They are just one storefront under OneBookShelf, a company that includes DMs Guild, and Storyteller's Vault.
What this all means is if you're a fan of Mistborn and do not have digital copies of the Mistborn Adventure Game, the clock is ticking. Thankfully, there is a comprehensive Mistborn Adventure Game bundle on DriveThruRPG, which includes all of the books at a discounted price.
