24 Entertainment and NetEase have announced a new Naraka: Bladepoint hero, as well as some pretty big changes to the way hero skills work in the game.
First, let's take a look at the new hero. Shayol Wei, otherwise known as the Justice Vigilant, is a skilled warrior with a number of combos and block-based abilities at her disposal.
Many of her abilities take advantage of a phantasmal shield, which she can use to knock enemies into the air, block incoming attacks, and more.
Shayol Wei joins a roster of new heroes that have been added to Naraka: Bladepoint post-launch, including Hadi Ismail, Zai, and Wuchen.
She's currently available to try out on the game's public test realm, but there's no word regarding exactly when she's going to be added to the main game.
Shayol Wei will also be the first hero to represent a major overhaul that's coming to the Naraka: Bladepoint skill system, and it's one that higher-level players might be a touch disappointed by.
In a post on Steam, 24 Entertainment and NetEase reveal that skills will drop from three variants to "two more polished options".
This change is being made in order to address certain skill variants having very low usage rates, with some variants "having specific usage conditions that make them less appealing or practical in most gameplay scenarios".
Shayol Wei will be the first hero to launch under this new system, but eventually, every hero in the game will be reworked in order to adhere to the new system.
The developers say that regular updates will be provided over the next few seasons regarding hero development, so we'll have to wait and see what happens next.
In the meantime, Naraka: Bladepoint is available to play right now for free across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox platforms.
