Today Amazon Games announced a shift in its support for its MMORPG New World, including a move to a seasonal model and season passes.
The first season is titled Fellowship & Fire and will officially start on March 28, prompting players to team up with the Silver Crows mercenary band to defend the island of Aeternum. During the season, the Silver Crows will be hired by Skye the Speardaughter to defeat a powerful warlock and the Varangian Horde.
A new expedition titled the Empyrean Forge will be implemented alongside a new Heartrune named Fire Storm, the new Gear Set Storage mechanic and an Asia Pacific Northeast server region.
Each season will last approximately a quarter including plenty of events and goodies for players to enjoy, and below you can take a look at the first four seasons culminating with an expansion in the fall of 2023.
Each season will have a season pass with a free track and a premium track which will offer additional rewards. The free track includes 100 levels and will offer skins, a pet, Marks of Fortune, boost tokens, in-game weapons and armor, and progression materials including caches of materials for crafters.
The Premium Track will be purchasable at any point in the seasons and rewards will be granted retroactively. It costs 20,000 Marks of Fortune, which translates approximately to $20. Additional premium rewards include a skin set, skins for the pet, additional Marks of Fortune, and even more token boosts and seasonal loot.
Unearned rewards will be "vaulted" at the end of the season, and won't be made available anymore during following seasons.
The new content will be available on the PTR tomorrow, February 23, letting players give it a try before it's implemented on the live servers.
You can check out a video with the developers explaining all the changes below.
New World is currently only available only on PC via Steam.
