Today Bethesda announced that a new patch for its RPG Starfield will enter its beta phase on Steam next week.
According to the announcement made on X (formerly Twitter), the update will include support for AMD's FSR3 technology.
On top of that, we also learn that it'll come with a change to FormID (a code that identifies objects in the game) that should improve stability with the issue that has been affecting save games in which the player has visited many locations.
While FSR3 is certainly a bigger head-turner for headlines, the FormID issue has been a serious problem for many pretty much since the game's release, causing more frequent crashes for players who played too long without moving on to the New Game+.
At the moment, we don't know what else the patch will include or when exactly it'll be released, but we'll let you know as soon as Bethesda provides more information.
It's worth mentioning that the developer just released the latest update (numbered 1.9.51.0) on all platforms following the Steam Beta, and plans to launch a new one approximately every six weeks.
FSR3 is only one of several elements that Bethesda has promised for the future, new ways to travel, city maps, and XeSS support. On top of that, one of the biggest "make or break" points for this game will be the addition of official mod support, which should happen at some point early this year.
Starfield is currently available for PC (both on the Windows Store and on Steam) and Xbox Series X|S. Of course, it's also available for Game Pass subscribers on both platforms. If you haven't purchased the game yet, you can buy a physical copy on Amazon.
