Today Palworld developer Pocketpair and mobile developer Klab announced a deal via press release to jointly develop and operate a "hybrid-casual" mobile game.

if you aren't familiar with the definition, Klab itself explains it as "a game model that combines the simplicity of casual games with the mechanics of online games that can be played for longer periods of time to generate revenue from both in-game purchases and advertisements."

The developer mentions that the category has been growing across the world since 2020 and had an estimated market size of $2.1 billion in 2023 according to Sensor Tower.

The project mentioned in this announcement is intended to pair Klab's experience in mobile online games with Pocketpair's ability to plan and develop unique games. The goal is to create an "exciting experience for mobile game players worldwide.

Interestingly, we also hear that joint development has been ongoing since 2020, and following the creation of many prototypes, the game is finally ready to be commercialized.

No further information has been shared about the game, and we don't know whether it's a mobile version of Palworld or some sort of spinoff, or something completely different, but we do know that the development of Palworld started around 2020.

Since the press release states that the game is ready for commercialization, it's likely that we'll hear more soon.

If you're unfamiliar with Palworld, it's currently available for PC and Xbox, including Game Pass. You can read our hands-on preview if you want to learn why it's so popular.

The game has sold over 8 million copies on Steam and it has 2 million concurrent players on Valve's digital download platform (according to the monitoring portal SteamDB). This is the second-highest peak concurrent player number ever for the platform behind the popular battle royale game PUBG.

The game can be played online on official servers, or you can rent a private server on g-portal to play with your friends.

Recently, Pocketpair revealed an extensive early access roadmap for the game, while pledging to start by fixing the current issues. The studio also released an update for both PC and Xbox earlier today.
