Developer S-GAME has released a brand new Phantom Blade Zero trailer, and it comes with an assurance that a demo will be along "soon" as well.
The martial arts-inspired Soulslike was originally announced back in May last year during a PlayStation showcase, and we haven't heard too much of it since then.
Now, though, a stylish new story trailer has been released, and it's showing off the game's monochromatic aesthetic, although it's not clear whether the story the trailer tells will be indicative of the final game or not.
The trailer tells the story of two individuals, both of whom have silver hair. They meet on a bridge and face off against one another, swords drawn.
As the trailer progresses, we see flashbacks that indicate the two were once allies. The flashbacks take on a different style, resembling sketches with heavy ink lines.
It's a pretty great trailer, and it does a good job of setting up Phantom Blade Zero's style, even if this story isn't necessarily the one we'll be following when the game launches. You can check the trailer out here.
As well as releasing the trailer, S-GAME also says that a demo for Phantom Blade Zero will be coming along at some point.
Somewhat confusingly, the developer says the demo will be available "soon within this year". It isn't clear whether that means the demo is simply due at some point in 2024 or whether we'll be able to get our hands on it in the next few months, so stay tuned for more on that.
If you're not familiar with Phantom Blade Zero, it's a Soulslike that draws heavy inspiration from wuxia-style martial arts movies, and it seems we can also add Akira Kurosawa movies and Bloodborne to that list of inspirations.
It's due to launch for PlayStation 5 and PC at some point this year, although we don't know the release date yet. We'll bring you more on this exciting-looking project as soon as we get it.
