Wizards of the Coast sent us along a brand new packaged bundle for the game, Phyrexia: All Will Be One Bundle: Compleat Edition, and we're embracing the cold wisdom of Phyrexia with our first look and unboxing!

The Phyrexia All Will Be One Bundle: Compleat Edition Box - Foil Lands

First, let's take a look at the special foil lands included in The Phyrexia All Will Be One Bundle: Compleat Edition Box. The package comes with 20 traditional foil Full-Art Foil Lands and 20 traditional foil Phrexianized lands, but what does that mean?

As you can see from the above image, these full-art basic lands included in this box are real standouts. Featuring our classic land types depicting New Phyrexia, the artwork really shines in foil. It's always tricky to capture the look of a foil card in a photo, but these feel heavily foiled, giving off a nice shine while holding their flat card structure (gone are the days of slow warping from foil).

The real star of the show here are the Phyrexianized Lands. With all the text on the card in the Phyrexian language (what, you're not fluent? You will be... soon) I absolutely love the bold art design and approach to these lands. More abstract representations of the energy of each land vs. showing a scenic view, these Phyrexianized lands look, to put it plainly, extremely metal.

Also included in the set is the classic card Phyrexian Arena, which also gets the Phyrexianized treatment with all of its text scribbled in the Phyrexian language. From the art design of this card, the illustration, and the mass of unintelligible writing, it truly evokes the unknowable, alien nature of the Phyrexians (even if the Phyrexian language can be deciphered).

Phyrexia All Will Be One Bundle: Compleat Edition Oil Slick Foil Mythic Rares

Now it's time to crack into what makes this set truly special. Each copy of Phyrexia All Will Be One Bundle: Compleat Edition contains two Mythic Rare Oil Slick Foil cards. Available only in these Compleat Edition bundles, you don't know which two Mythic Rares you'll open, but they will have this Oil Slick treatment. It's really incredible looking in-hand, featuring ink-black, oily coloring and a shine that feels less chromatic than traditional foils. Here's what we opened!

First, let's check out Lukka, Bound To Ruin. This Red Green Planeswalker has the "Compleated" mechanic, meaning you can spend phyrexian mana (aka paying 2 life instead of the mana cost associated) but it enters with 2 less loyalty counters on it. His abilities allow him to add mana, create a 3/3 Beast, or deal damage to Creatures or Planeswalkers equal to the highest power of a creature you control. Good for aggressive Gruul decks, and a Limited format bomb - especially when you focus on building around a classic Gruul aggro and mana-gain archetype.

We also opened the new sword of the set, The Sword of Forge and Frontier, and I'm thrilled with how this looks in the Oil Slick Foil format. The sword is pretty nasty, too, giving the equipped Creature +2/+2, protection from Red and Green, allowing you to exile and play exiled cards, and play an extra land each turn. 

All in all, the Phyrexia All Will Be One Bundle: Compleat Edition is a huge value, and if you can find a box at MSRP we think it's the perfect addition to any collector's shelf. With the special lands, Oil Slick rares, 12 Set Booster packs, and a nice storage box to hold it all in, you'll truly be on your way to becoming one with Phyrexia with this collector's box.
