Back in May, Fantasy Flight Games announced Star Wars: Unlimited, a brand new TCG set in a galaxy far far away. Now, the tabletop developer has released new details about what players can expect when they open a Star Wars: Unlimited booster pack.
The Star Wars: Unlimited Booster Pack details
In an official press release, Fantasy Flight provided a breakdown of the contents in a single Star Wars: Unlimited booster pack.
Each pack holds sixteen cards and is guaranteed to contain the following:
- 16 cards with a leader card, and a base card with an Experience or Shield token
- 9 Common, 3 Uncommon, and 1 Rare/Legendary card
- 1 foil card, potentially featuring any rarity card in the set
In addition, each booster pack may contain a "Hyperspace" variant. Any card in the pack can be this variant, even the leader card, base card, and foil.
There is also a second, more exclusive "Showcase" variant. These feature alternate artwork, a unique frame, and special foil treatment.
The Star Wars: Unlimited website puts the rarity of these variants into perspective.
Roughly two out of every three booster packs will contain a Hyperspace variant. Whereas one in every twelve boxes of booster packs may contain a single Showcase variant.
As for why Fantasy Flight chose to handle the Star Wars: Unlimited booster pack contents like this, it was to support sealed and draft play. As long as you have a leader and a base card, you can include any cards you want in your deck.
This means if a local game store wants to hold a draft or sealed event, they just need booster packs.
Star Wars: Unlimited is an officially licensed fast-paced TCG. One that features characters, locations, and ships from the entire Star Wars franchise, including movies, comics, cartoons, video games, and more.
Star Wars: Unlimited launches globally in 2024. At the time of writing, no MSRP for these packs has been announced.
