Starfield has 5 different factions that players can choose from at any point of the game to join, and complete a full questline for each. This Starfield Factions guide will tell you everything you need to know, what you'll get for completing each, and associated achievements!

If you're looking for some beefy content beyond the main story, each of the factions will give you an extensive romp around multiple systems that ends in a major blockbuster mission and a sweet reward.

Without further ado, let's jump right into the different Factions in Starfield!

Once you start New Game+ you'll get a sweet spacesuit and one of the best ships in Starfield! You'll carry over your skills and level, but nothing else, though!

Freestar Rangers HQ The Rock Front Entryway

Starfield Freestar Rangers Faction - Questline & Reward

The Freestar Rangers are the "law" in the systems that are allied with the Freestar Collective - one of the main factions in the world of Starfield. The Freestar Collective and UC previously had a vicious war that underscores much of the story and missions around the universe, and while the UC is very rigid and structured, the Freestar Collective is much more "wild west" in tone with how their worlds are run.

There aren't many rangers, but the rangers that are around, are tough as nails.

Freestar Rangers Questline

Here are the Freestar Rangers Missions:

  • Job Gone Wrong
  • Deputized
  • Where Hope is Built
  • Shadows in Neon
  • On The Run
  • Surgical Strike
  • First to Fight, First to Die
  • The Hammer Falls

Your rewards for completing The Hammer Falls are an achievement, and you'll get slightly different rewards:

  • Let Guilty Party Live: Same as above, but with a 20,000 Credit additional bonus from the person you let live.

You'll also get the following Starfield achievements: Deputized, Surgical Strike, The Hammer Falls

All Ryujin Industries Missions

Here are the Ryujin Industies Missions:

  • Back to the Grind
  • One Step Ahead

  • The Key Ingredient
  • Sabotage

Reward for Completing Ryujin Industries Questline

Completing this questline doesn't give massive perks - you'll get a nice payout at the end as well as along the way, but the big benefit of completing this is the Manipulate Tool, which lets you unlock (for free) a top-level Perk in the Science section. This Perk lets you mind control NPCs and Enemies to do what you want in conversation, or when you're sneaking around.

It's exceptional if you're someone who prefers stealth gameplay!

You'll also get the following Starfield achievements: Back to the Grind, Guilty Parties, Executive Level.

Crimson Fleet Logo in Starfield

Starfield Crimson Fleet Faction - Questline & Reward

The Crimson Fleet are the space pirates that permeate the worlds of Starfield. You can join their ranks, but it's not as simple as asking. In order to kick off this questline, you'll need to get caught with Contraband outside of a UC Settlement, which will kick off a questline that sends you undercover to expose the Crimson Fleet.

All Crimson Fleet Missions

Here are the Crimson Fleet Missions:

  • Deep Cover
  • Rook Meets King
  • Burden of Proof
  • Echoes of the Past (Reward: Legendary Pistol)
  • Breaking the Bank
  • The Best There Is
  • Absolute Power
  • Eye of the Storm

Reward for Completing Crimson Fleet Questline (SysDef or Crimson Fleet?)

Before you can complete the final mission - you'll be offered a choice. You have to choose either SysDef or Crimson Fleet, and it's a hard decision because you'll lose access to whoever you decide not to side with.

You're gunna want at least 10 Ship Parts, but if you side with the Crimson Fleet or SysDef - here's what you get for each:

  • Side with SysDef: 250,000 Credits & SysDef Formal Uniform. You'll maintain access to the SysDef Mission Board.
    • Note: This fight is easier if you give Lt. Toft enough Evidence for the mission collecting evidence for extra credits. See below "Burden of Proof"
    • Side with Crimson Fleet: 250,000 Credits and you'll maintain access to the Crimson Fleet Mission Board, as well as an easy place to sell Contraband.

Where is the Burden of Proof Evidence?

      • Naeva Meetup - Cydonia's Broken Spear Bar
      • Hopetown Raid - Hopetown Pit Stop Bar

      • Warden’s Log – The Lock, Warden’s Office.
      • Request Denied – Captain's quarters of cruise liner
      • Eubanks and Woods – Found in the engineering section of the SY Station. On a dolly after you use a ventilation shaft.
