Today Bethesda shared that a large update for Starfield will enter beta testing on Steam next week.
As mentioned on X (formerly Twitter), the update will enter Steam Beta on January 17 and will be the biggest yet for the game, including over 100 fixes and improvements,.
The release date for all players on all platforms is planned for two weeks later.
The developer promises "a multitude" of fixes to quests
Eye of the Storm issues such as being unable to dock with the Legacy or data transfer not starting, and Temples not showing up in Into the Unknown, will no longer prevent Constellation from exploring the cosmos.
Yet, that's not all. On the menu aòlso are stability improvements and graphic improvements including additional widescreen support to improved textures, lighting, and shadows.
Below you can see a before and after comparison.
On top of it all, we're also getting sun disk geometry improvements and planet ring shadows.
Bulldozed objects will stay bulldozed when returning to an Outpost, ship hatches marked inaccessible will be fixed, and there will be another fix for asteroids following ships.
We can expect the full patch notes next week when the beta update is released on Steam.
A few weeks ago, Bethesda shared what we can expect from further updates, including new ways to travel, city maps, FSR3 and XeSS support, and more.
