This Starfield Miguel Rivas Mission Guide tells you how to complete an unmarked Mission in Neon -- and how to Speak to Erika to save their marriage.
Starfield has no shortage of interesting quests to explore, whether you want to become the Starfield equivalent of Batman or you want to track down historical treasures for the Freestar Collective. Some Missions, however, are unmarked and can only be found if you know where to look! The Miguel Rivas Mission in Neon is basically Starfield's equivalent of The Hangover and it's a ton of fun -- read on to learn how to beat this Mission!
Where to Find Miguel Rivas in Starfield
Miguel Rivas can be found sitting in the Volii Hotel in the Neon Core in Neon, on the planet Volii Alpha, in the Volii System.
How to Beat the Starfield Miguel Rivas Mission
The Starfield Miguel Rivas Mission doesn't provide you with any trackable objectives until you've almost completed it; instead, you need to pay attention to the dialogue and track down Miguel as he travels through Neon. Here's how to beat the Miguel Rivas Mission in Starfield!
Meeting Miguel Rivas
First, head to the Volii Hotel in Neon. Miguel Rivas is sitting in the hotel lobby, talking about how he's not sure if "he can do this."
When you first speak with Miguel, you'll have three possible dialogue options.
- It sounds like you're having trouble with something.
- Then I humbly suggest you grow a pair.
- As a general rule you should never rush into things.
Regardless of which of the three you choose, Miguel will tell you that he's here in Neon, alone, for his bachelor party. Unfortunately, he's a little nervous about trying anything crazy. It's up to you to encourage him to have some fun.
The next stage of the conversation will have multiple options. The bottom three dialogue choices will give you some background details on the story. You should ultimately select the dialogue option "Is there anything specific you want to try?"
Should You Tell Miguel Rivas to Try Blend or Velocity?
Miguel says that he's thinking about trying Aurora, but his doctor has warned him about the possible side effects. You now have two dialogue choices: you can tell Miguel to try Blend at Legrande's Liquors or you can tell him to try Velocity at Madame Sauvage's Place. You should tell Miguel Rivas to try Blend.
If you tell Miguel to try Blend first, you'll be able to immediately go to Legrand's Liquors; you can find it near Ryujin Headquarters in the Neon Core. You'll see Miguel inside; he'll try Blend, but he ultimately won't like it. You'll get a free can of Blend by talking to him after his conversation with Yannick Legrande, and then he'll head to Madame Sauvage's Place in Ebbside.
If you instead tell Miguel to try Velocity, he'll immediately go to Madame Sauvage's Place in Ebbside. You can find Madame Sauvage's Place by going down the stairs to Ebbside behind the Mining League in the Neon Core. (If Miguel tries Blend first, he'll immediately go to Madame Sauvage's after giving you the can of Blend.) Selecting this option will cause you to miss out on a free can of Blend.
The differences between the two choices are otherwise minor.
Meeting Miguel at Madame Sauvage's Place
Miguel is now on the second-floor balcony of Madame Sauvage's Place with a man named Diosdado Kekoa, the self-proclaimed fashion icon of Neon. When you walk up to him, you'll see that he is clearly inebriated and that he's talking about how great Velocity is.
Talk to Miguel again and he'll ask you to pick him up a Velocity Red down at the bar. You don't need to buy him a Velocity Red; if you try to tell him that it's sold out or that he should slow down, Diosdado will say that he'll get more Velocity Red for the both of them later.
You can, if you wish, speak to Diosdado to learn more about him, but none of his dialogue options are relevant to this Mission.
Regardless of what option you select, your next step is to ask Miguel Rivas, "Are you ready to try Aurora now?" He'll say that he's going to have another round of Velocity first. Once you've selected this dialogue option, you can head to the Astral Lounge.
Aurora at the Astral Lounge
Exit Madame Sauvage's Place and go back out to the Neon Core by heading back up the stairs you came in on and going through the door with the "Bayu Plaza" sign above it. Take a right at the Trade Tower and head to the end of the promenade toward the Trade Tower. Head into the Trade Tower and straight up the stairs and you'll be at the Astral Lounge.
You can find Miguel Rivas and Diosdado Kekoa on a little balcony immediately to the right of the Trade Tower entrance to the Astral Lounge. Diosdado is sitting down and Miguel is absolutely vibing, dancing along to the tunes and clearly having a good time -- probably because he's had his first taste of the Contraband drug called Aurora.
You can talk with Diosdado if you like, but his conversation options will be the same as when you first met him at Madame Sauvage's Place.
Speak to Miguel again. Regardless of which dialogue options you select, he and Diosdado will decide that Miguel needs a makeover and some new clothes.
Your next stop will be to head to Enhance in the Neon Core; you can find Enhance right next to the Volii Hotel where you first met Miguel.
The Enhanced Miguel Rivas
As expected, Miguel decided to go through with a tattoo... and a little more.
Suffice it to say, Miguel might have gone a little too far with his makeover.
Speak with Miguel again. He seems to be in an excellent mood and he's quite pleased with his looks. He then tells you that his fiance Erika is going to meet him at the Volii Hotel.
Going Back to the Volii Hotel
This time, you'll actually see Miguel Rivas leave Enhance and walk over to the Hotel Volii. He'll stand near the bounty kiosks and wait for his fiance.
You cannot sit and wait in the lobby for Miguel's fiance to show up. Even waiting 48 hours of Universal Time (which typically resets merchant stock) won't be enough; you have to leave the area to progress this Mission.
Once Miguel is standing in place, turn around and go to the Hotel Volii elevators. Go up to the 2nd or 3rd floor and then immediately go back down to the lobby. Miguel will move away from the bounty kiosks and sit down.
Talk with Miguel again. He'll tell you that his fiance Erika was not happy with his new look and she's called off the wedding. Regardless of which dialogue options you pick, he will ask you to convince his fiance to give him another chance.
Speaking with Miguel after his disastrous makeover will give you the Activity "Speak to Erika." Erika is at Madame Sauvage's; as before, the fastest way to get there is to head toward the Mining League in the Neon Core and take the stairs down to Ebbside behind the Mining League.
Speak to Erika
Once you're in Madame Sauvage's Place, you can find his fiance Erika standing near the bar and complaining about Miguel's transformation. Walk up to Erika and speak with her.
Select the dialogue option "I'm here on behalf of Miguel." You'll then have four dialogue options to choose from:
- Give him another chance. He only did it because he thought you wanted him to be adventurous.
- You're right. He can't be trusted. You're better off without him.
- I'm sorry. This is really my fault. I'm the one who pushed to do all this.
- Couldn't he just change his face back?
If you feel like being mean, selecting "You're right. He can't be trusted." will cause Eirka to break off the engagement for good. You can then return to Miguel Rivas at the Volii Hotel, break the bad news to him, and collect a reward of 5,300 Credits.
If you'd prefer to play Cupid and save their relationship, you can select either "Give him another chance" or "I'm sorry." This will bring up another set of 3 dialogue options.
- You know that he loves you.
- You're right. You don't know him.
- Can you ever really know anyone?
I do not recommend selecting "You're right. You don't know him." It appears to be bugged in V1.7.33.0 of Starfield; I think it's supposed to break off the engagement (and it even brings up the "Deliver the News to Miguel" Activity), but Erika and Miguel have a chat in the Volii Hotel lobby and reconcile.
This option will let you get two rewards of 5,300 Credits: one for saving their marriage, and one for breaking it up. This seems to be a bug, though, and I don't recommend taking this option. (If you need Credits this badly, there are many better ways to get them, either legitimately or through exploits and cheating).
Saving Miguel and Erika's Marriage
Selecting "You know that he loves you" will cause Erika to head back over to the Volii Hotel to speak with Miguel. You'll get the Activity "Check on Erika and Miguel."
Immediately go back to the Volii Hotel and you'll see Miguel Rivas and Erika talking.
After their conversation is over, you'll get the Activity "Speak with Miguel." Miguel will automatically come up to you and talk to you if you're nearby.
Whatever dialogue option you choose, Miguel will give you 5,300 Credits, bringing an end to this unmarked Miguel Rivas Mission.
If you'd like to see a bit of an epilogue, you can immediately go into the Volii Hotel elevator, go up to the second floor, and come back downstairs. You'll see that Miguel has gone back to Enhance and is looking like his old self. once again
You can speak with both Erika and Miguel. Erika will tell you that she's happy that she has her old Miguel back and that she's considering getting a makeover of her own, although she won't quite go to Miguel's extremes.
Miguel Rivas, meanwhile, will regale you with tales of exploring Ebbside and how they "only managed to get robbed once." It seems that all is right with this pair of lovebirds, and Miguel Rivas truly got the authentic Neon experience he had wished for.
