Today Gaming Factory announced that the driving game Japanese Drift Master has achieved a rather massive number of demo downloads.
The announcement made on X (formerly Twitter) mentions that the demo of the game, which was published during Steam Next Fest, passed 390,000 downloads. For an independent developer tackling a niche topic, that's certainly impressive.
The JDM demo has already 390,000 downloads!
We are incredibly proud and grateful for this achievement, and we thank all of you who showed an interest in playing JDM!
Perhaps we shouldn't be too surprised, considering that Japanese Drift Master (cleverly acronymized "JDM" which is the same used for "Japanese domestic market" and a common one among local petrolheads and fans of Japanese cars) is extremely pretty.
Besides, the game is second-ranked among the most-played games at Steam Next Fest, following Keen Games' Enshrouded.
If you're not familiar with Japanese Drift Master, it basically lets you relive your Initial D dreams with a massive open-world map portraying the Japanese countryside, small towns, and iconic winding mountain roads. It also includes all the customization a fan of JDM cars may ever want.
It even comes with a story mode about a foreigner who tries to make a name for himself in the Japanese drifting scene, and if that's not a homage to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, I don't know what it is.
Considering that Turn-10 doesn't want to give us back Fujimi Kaido, for some reason that I'll never understand, the niche is certainly open, and Gaming Factory appears to be doing a great job of covering it.
The game is coming for PC via Steam and doesn't have a release date yet. While Steam Next Fest has concluded, the demo is still available if you have missed the celebrations and want to help reach 400,000 downloads.
