Update January 30th 8:47AM: Rocksteady has confirmed the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League servers are back online. A fix for the below problem has also been implemented. Original story follows below.
Original story: Rocksteady has pulled the early access version of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League over a game-breaking progress bug.
In a message posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) earlier today, Rocksteady says that a number of early access players are experiencing an issue wherein they have "full story completion" on logging into the game for the first time.
In order to investigate this issue, Rocksteady says it's performing "maintenance" on the game servers, during which time Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League won't be playable.
According to Rocksteady, this process will likely take "several hours". The developer says it'll update players when it has more information.
It's worth remembering that the phrase "early access" here refers specifically to players who pre-ordered the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Deluxe Edition, which grants the ability to play the game ahead of its official February 2nd release.
The version Deluxe Edition players are playing (or would be playing) is, therefore, still technically the full and finished version, rather than an Early Access release as we might otherwise define it.
Something else to note here is that the game isn't scheduled to launch into early access in most regions for a few hours; it went live around two hours ago in New Zealand (at time of writing), which is why some players have already been able to get started (albeit very briefly).
Another thing worth remembering is that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League requires an online connection, with offline play apparently coming in a later update.
As such, when a server issue like this arises, the entire game has to be taken offline, which means that if you pre-ordered Suicide Squad for the chance to play it early, you're currently out of luck.
It's not yet clear when this issue will be fixed, but if you're currently waiting for your chance to hop back into Suicide Squad, your best bet is likely to watch Rocksteady's social media.
We also don't know whether this issue is going to negatively impact a launch in other territories, although we're assuming it'll be fixed well in advance of Suicide Squad's official release on February 2nd.
