Valheim developer Iron Gate has shared more details about the game's upcoming Ashlands update, which will represent the next major content drop for the Viking survival sandbox. While we don't know when Ashlands is due to arrive yet, a new dev blog contains some juicy details about the Ashlands biome itself, as well as the Hildir's Quest update and more.
We got our first big look at Ashlands back in January as part of Iron Gate's mission to be more transparent with updates, but now, it's time for more. As well as showing off the new biome, which looks positively sweltering, Iron Gate also says it's working on "fleshing out the gameplay loop" of Ashlands. The studio says this will entail something called "Fortress Time", which will be an additional activity in the Ashlands as well as delving into dungeons.
It's not just all about Ashlands, though. The new dev blog also looks at the upcoming Hildir's Quest update, revealing that you'll be able to visit Hildir's camp, as well as "a few other new and mysterious places" that hold many secrets. You'll have to find these locations for yourself, though, so I hope you're the intrepid sort of Viking warrior.
You can also look forward to additional quality-of-life updates coming in the Hildir's Quest update. These include the ability to move items in stacks when you're shifting them between chests and your inventory, as well as toggling manual snapping when you're building structures. Naturally, much more is on the way to Iron Gate's game, but we'll have to wait and see what else could be coming.
Valheim is available right now on PC and Xbox consoles via Early Access or Game Preview.
