The many fans of the Indie darling Vampire Survivors have been waiting for the "Whiteout" free update since its announcement last month, and now it has a release date.
According to a post made on X (Formerly Twitter) by indie developer Poncle, the plan is to launch the update numbered 1.7 on Thursday, October 19. As mentioned, it'll be free, and you can't go wrong with free.
The update comes just in time for the full release's first anniversary on October 20.
Feeling cute, might release a free update on Thursday (Announcement: We are releasing a free update this Thursday, it's called Whiteout, details below)
As for the details mentioned above, they're still a bit scarce, but we know we're getting a new stage fit for the season (with plenty of ice and snow), a new character, a weapon, and more.
The update will be released simultaneously on all platforms the game is available now, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Android, and iOS.
When the update was announced a few weeks ago, the developer released a trailer which you can enjoy below, providing more hints on the content of the update.
If you're unfamiliar with Vampire Survivors, it's a massively popular horde time survival game that has pretty much made its genre popular. It still has "overwhelmingly positive" reviews on Steam a year after its release.
With its pixel art visuals and roguelite gameplay, it tests players to survive wave upon massive waves of enemies, with the gold gathered before the inevitable death to be used to purchase upgrades that will help in the next round.
The developers have recently added local co-op with version 1.6 in August, adding a further welcome layer of gameplay for those who want to stare down the horde together with friends.
