Nintendo has uploaded a full The Legend of Zelda concert to its YouTube channel, and it features some of the series' most iconic pieces rendered in an orchestral format.
The concert was originally scheduled to be aired as part of the Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo event, which was canceled in December (thanks, Nintendo Life), apparently owing to threats made against Nintendo staff and fans.
Thankfully, the full concert has been made available on the official Nintendo of America YouTube page. It's around half an hour long and features nine pieces, one of which is a medley consisting of several The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening pieces.
As well as Link's Awakening, the concert also features music from celebrated classics like Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom, which came second in our roundup of best game soundtracks in 2023.
The concert also features series staples like "Zelda's Lullaby" and the main The Legend of Zelda theme, crafted by the inimitable Koji Kondo for the first Zelda game back in 1986.
The presence of music from Link's Awakening should hopefully go some way towards salving the wound caused by Nintendo's recent takedown of an unauthorized PC port of the original Link's Awakening DX.
If you're looking for an excuse to revisit the music of the Zelda series (and why wouldn't you be?), then you can definitely do a lot worse than this concert. You can watch the whole thing below.
Here's the full setlist for the concert:
- "Tears of the Kingdom: Main Theme (Reprise)" (from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom)
- "The Ballad of the Goddess" (from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword)
- "Zelda's Lullaby" (from The Legend of Zelda series)
- "Link's Awakening Medley 2024" (from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening)
- "Breath of the Wild: Main Theme" (from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)
- "Hyrule Castle" (from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past)
- "Breath of the Wild: 2017 Nintendo Switch Presentation Trailer"
- "Ocarina of Time: Kakariko Village" (from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
- "The Legend of Zelda Main Theme" (from The Legend of Zelda)
It's a good time to be a Zelda fan right now.
Not only is this concert available to watch for free, but Nintendo is also currently working on a live-action Zelda movie alongside Sony Pictures and producer Avi Arad.
The most recent Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, is also selling phenomenally well; at last count, the game had sold 18.51 million units, and that number has likely increased since then.
