Vanillaware and Atlus have released a new trailer showing off some of strategy RPG Unicorn Overlord's socialization systems, and if you're a Fire Emblem fan, you'll find much to like here.
Previous Unicorn Overlord trailers have revolved around how exploration will work, and we've seen the game's characters and classes in various screenshot collections, but this latest trailer is all about how your characters will interact.
Like the previous Unicorn Overlord trailer, this one is hosted by Holy Knight Josef, who kicks things off by lamenting that the Liberation Army "yet suffers from disunity".
Achieving unity in the army will revolve around Rapport, which builds as party members fight together. It's a lot like Fire Emblem support levels; when Rapport between two characters is high enough, a higher tier will be unlocked, and "certain pairings" will have unique conversations.
Characters' stats can also increase if they're placed in units alongside other characters with whom they have high Rapport, so it's important to note who's buddying up with whom.
Meals consumed at taverns can also have an effect on Rapport, so Holy Knight Josef (and, by extension, Vanillaware) says you should consider your menu choices carefully.
You can also give gifts to certain characters, and if you choose the right kind of gift, Rapport will increase even further.
If you're not familiar with Unicorn Overlord, it's the latest game from 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Odin Sphere developer Vanillaware.
Revealed during last September's Nintendo Direct presentation, the game is a tactical RPG in which battles play out in real time, as opposed to Fire Emblem's turn-based system.
You'll play as Alain, a prince who must fight to liberate his homeland from the tyrant General Valmore. As you play, you'll recruit new allies, explore the continent of Fevrith, and upgrade your army with new equipment, among other things.
Unicorn Overlord is set to launch for PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, and Nintendo Switch on March 8th. No PC release has been announced. Watch this space for more info.
