This Enshrouded Farming Guide will tell you how to unlock farming, how the farming system works, and the best crops to plant on your farm!
While you can forage plenty of resources in the world of Enshrouded, you won't be able to take advantage of the game's cooking system without a reliable source of food. That's where farming comes in -- read on to learn how to unlock farming and how it all works!
How to Unlock Farming in Enshrouded
You can unlock farming in Enshrouded by rescuing the Farmer NPC and placing her back at your base. Once you do, you'll be able to place a Seedbed in your base.
Keep in mind that this will simply unlock the ability to farm crops -- you'll also need to actually find the crops you want to grow. (Refer to the Seedling List at the end of this guide to see what you can grow!)
How Enshrouded Farming Works
The Enshrouded Farming system is surprisingly flexible -- once you make some Seedlings, you can grow them pretty much anywhere there is dirt.
First, you have to place the proper ingredients for the desired crop in a Seedbed. It will take some time for the Seedbed to produce usable seeds; a single batch of seeds can take anywhere from 3 minutes to 20 minutes to process.
Once you have seeds, you can simply put them on your hotbar and place them in some dirt. While this will work in the short term, though, it's a much better idea to craft some Farm Soil or Fertilised Farm Soil at the Farmer NPC -- it gives significant speed boosts that gets you your crops much faster.
Best Crops to Grow
There are two crops that you'll want to grow at all times: Flax and Wheat. Flax is necessary for making Linen, a resource that's used in quite a few crafting recipes. As for Wheat, it's used in a wide array of cooking recipes.
Aside from these two, you should decide which crops to plant based on which food you'd like to cook with them. No single raw food is as good as a cooked meal, so take the time to decide which meal works best for you at the stage of the game you're at.
